The Randolph County Asylum is a very popular destination for film crews and paranormal investigators from around the world. Once you visit the Asylum you will understand why it is highly sought after.

Most everyone who enters the Asylum experiences some type of haunting. Doors slamming without explanation, women screaming, crashing sounds in the cafeteria, voices speaking in your ear, very loud and clear evp’s that can’t be explained.  The basement is commonly referred to as creepy. Several apparitions and shadowy figures have been seen through the ambient light.

Originally built in 1847 and burnt to the ground for unknown reasons. Several people died in that tragic fire. They are buried in a cemetery on the property in an unknown location in over 50 unmarked graves. The property was rebuilt in 1899 and the original basement walls are still there today.

Throughout the years, many people died in the Asylum ranging from tuberculosis, pneumonia and old age. One person was pushed out of a second floor window; there are also reports of people hanging themselves. Over 100 years of history and deaths still remain within the walls today.

The property was closed in 2008 and remained empty until it was purchased and restored in 2015 by Dann Allen.
